Our Board of Directors and Executive Team are qualified, enthusiastic, and resourceful individuals, who volunteer their time and are committed in keeping the Mission of Woven Vessels International Ministry (WVI) alive. They share our vision and ensure that clear strategic plans are crafted and implemented. They not only steer the wheels of the organization, they are leaders who serve our communities and address issues consistently and diligently, to ensure our goals are met.
Rev. Charles E. Humphrey, DKA, CEO
Rev. Humphrey has an Honorary Doctorate, Chaplain and Ambassador to the Nations through the CICA International Chaplaincy Association and an Assistant Pastor at the Epicenter of Worship Church. He has a long history of service - taught Sunday school for a span of fifty+ years, mentor for children/youth and a bible scholar in his own right. He is passionate and has compassion for people especially the disenfranchised. He retired from Consumers Energy after 35 years of service in
Customer Service, an avid bowler, and loves all sports. He walks in humility and stands on the Word.
He said “I am a receiver and repository for God’s spirit and influence.”

What began as an act of kindness towards a resettled newcomer was the beginning of God’s vision for something greater. Jacqueline retired from Michigan State University as an Event Planner/Administrative Assistant, after a brief hiatis she now works for the State of Michigan. She has an Associate degree in Merchandising, and serves as an Ambassador to the Nations with over forty years of voluntary services in the Lansing community: Adjunct faculty at Lansing Community College, a Post Les Meres, founder of Jacqueline’s Center for Charm & Etiquette and a Touch of Class Modeling Troupe, Mentor/Advisor for various organizations.

Board of Directors

Angela T. Hall, JD, PhD, is the Interim President of the Board of Directors. She is an Assistant Professor in the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. She received her bachelor of science in Management/International Business from New York University. She received both her JD and PhD in business administration (major: Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management; minor: Strategic Management) from Florida State University. Her research interests include accountability and other forms of social influence, employee legal claiming, and barriers to employment. Her research has appeared in such journals as the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Relations, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Angela is also the author of several learning modules published by the Society of Human Resource Management. Angela is a member of the board of the Haven House homeless shelter in East Lansing, MI.

Denise Troutman, PhD, is a member of the Board. She is an Associate Professor in the department of Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures and the department of Linguistics, as well as a faculty-affiliate with the African American and African Studies (AAAS) Program.
She is the winner of a 2001-2002 Fulbright Award and a 2003-2004 Postdoctoral Fellowship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation and a 2009-2010 Humanities and Arts Research Program (HARP) Award. From 2004-2007, Dr. Troutman served as Diversity Coordinator for the College of Arts and Letters. Dr. Troutman teaches writing to first-year students and linguistics and sociolinguistics to undergraduate and graduate students. Currently she is working on interrogations of politeness/impoliteness within the African American speech community, which she has presented in special lectures and at conferences and which is the focus for her current book manuscript.

Isaac Gabriel Kalumbu is a member of the Board. He joined the African Studies Center at MSU as Assistant Director for Outreach. He was born and raised in Zimbabwe, and earned a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology with a minor in African American Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington, USA in 1999. He taught courses on African American, Caribbean and African popular musics for twelve years in the College of Music at Michigan State University, and led several Study Abroad programs to Jamaica and South Africa. In 2011, he joined the university’s International Studies and Programs, first as Assistant to the Director of the African Studies Center, and later as Program Manager for the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program. As Program Manager, Isaac was responsible for the implementation and management of the scholars program at Michigan State University. Isaac also assisted the Foundation with directing the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Community, which comprises the Scholars in all MasterCard partner institutions in Africa, Canada, and the USA. Prior to rejoining the African Studies Center in August 2019, Isaac served as Student Advocate and Outreach Coordinator for the Office for International Students and Scholars at MSU for one and a half years. In addition to his academic and administrative work, Isaac is a GRAMMY Nominated singer and songwriter.

Mr. Nyabenda Jacques is an American Citizen from Burundi. He is now on Medical Leave due to the disabilities that affected him. Mr. Nyabenda Jacques has held various positions within the Lansing School District. He has been a Bilingual Instructional Assistant, An Assistant Teacher ECSE, and an ESL Teacher at Sexton High School. As an ESL teacher, he also assisted bilingual students during Summer School. He also works at 7C Lingo as an Interpreter in the following languages: French, Kirundi, and Kiswahili (Swahili). Prior to America, Mr. Nyabenda Jacques was teacher in Burundian elementary schools, and a volunteer teacher at Lycée de la Lumière and Lycée de la Solidarité Post Primary Schools, in Mtabila Refugee Settlement.
Regarding his education, Mr. Nyabenda completed a three-year Bachelor of Laws in ADDIS, at University of Namur, in Belgium. He also completed a fourth year in Judicial Administration, Private and Procedural Law, at Institut Supérieur de Management, in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. The TRUSTFORTE CORPORATION in New York, United States evaluated these studies into a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies. Mr. Nyabenda Jacques also completed a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, United States that was followed by some courses in U.S. Law that he completed in Graduate School, at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, in the United States.
Regarding his education, Mr. Nyabenda completed a three-year Bachelor of Laws in ADDIS, at University of Namur, in Belgium. Ndeshiteelela Conteh volunteers as the Strategic Analyst and Program Manager for Woven Vessel International Ministry. She obtained her Bachelors in Nursing and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Namibia, respectively. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in HIV and AIDS Management from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Ndeshi brings a wealth of experience in health programing, capacity building, Monitoring, Evaluation and Research to WVI. She has worked for various non-governmental organizations in Namibia and Southern Africa, such as the Global Fund, Catholic AIDS Action, PharmaAccess Foundation and Management Sciences for Health. With such knowledge and experience, she headed the six-month project of drafting the Strategic Plan for WVI. Ndeshi has a passion for and is committed to promoting social justice in health and social services, especially for vulnerable populations.

Sam (SRE) Dixon volunteers as a Soccer Coach with WVI. Sam has an MBA in Human Resource Management from Davenport University. He has a Bachelor's in Mass Communication and Public Administration from the University of Liberia. Sam's passion has always been in soccer and wants the youth to develop a foundation in the sport, so they can build on their skill to attain higher heights, be it college or professional soccer. He was certified with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) in Monrovia, Liberia to coach youth soccer.

j Viola S Lupai volunteers as the Pathway to Citizenship expert with WVI. She is from South
Sudan and holds a Master's In Law degree from Michigan State University. Viola wears many
hats. She is skilled in Immigration Law and Legal Interpreting. She has expanded Food and
Nutrition Education and an Assistant Nursing Aid. She is the Co Chair at LMWL Lutheran
Woman Ministry of Lansing (LWML).
Sudan and holds a Master's In Law degree from Michigan State University. Viola wears many
hats. She is skilled in Immigration Law and Legal Interpreting. She has expanded Food and

Sue-bunch 'Cecilia' Dixon volunteers as the Program Coordinator with WVI. She is also responsible for creating and the content management of the website. She works as an Administrative Assistant in the Michigan State University (MSU), previously in the Graduate Studies and Inclusion Office and currently with the College’s University Development and Alumni Relations Offices. Sue-bunch holds a BA in Accounting with specialization in International Business from Michigan State University and an MBA in Human Resource Management from Davenport University, respectively. She is certified as a Human Resource Specialist from MSU’s School of Human Resource and Labor Relations Executive Education Program and also has a Diplôme d’Etudes de Langue Français (Diploma of French Language Studies) from L'Institute de Touraine, France.
Having gone through similar trajectory as those she serves, she understands the cultural shock and frustration that comes with acculturating in a strange land, especially one that has a language second to your land of origin. That is why she appreciates every opportunity to give back to vulnerable populations and promote education as a means to self-sustainability without borders.

Shingi Mavima volunteered as the Assisting Soccer Coach for WVI's Summer soccer clinic. He has
a Ph.D from Michigan State University, majoring in African American and African Studies. His
dissertation is entitled ‘Southern African Pan-Nationalism(s): Comparing Pan-Africanism in
Zimbabwe and South Africa.’ He is also the co-founder and executive director of CLUBHOUSE
International, a non- profit organization dedicated to promoting education, community service,
and good citizenship among Zimbabwean students. He moved to Toledo, Ohio this fall as a
Professor at the University of Toledo.

Sayali Saoji volunteered with Woven Vessels International Ministry. She was instrumental in completing several projects, including creating a database for the directory. She graduated with a Master's in Human Resources and Labor Relations (MHRLR) at Michigan State University (MSU). She also worked as a graduate research assistant with Professor Angela Hall, supporting her research at MSU on barriers to employment. She pursued her undergraduate education in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, India after which she also successfully passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA, US) certification exams. She has diverse work experiences spanning across US and India in the healthcare, financial services, education and entertainment industries. She is also a competitive Table Tennis player; represented MSU in the US and played at a national level in India.
