Advancing (Adult) Literacy and English as a Second Language
We work in collaboration with the Refugee Development Center (RDC) and the Lansing School District to serve as a Supplemental Agency to advance knowledge in English. Our (Adult) Literacy Program is comprised of formal and informal components:
- Formal English as a Second Language Program - We serve as an Educational Bridge to enhance the importance of English comprehension. Based on our observation of newcomers who speak the language, actual comprehension is lacking. Therefore, our goal is to meet families where they are and work to increase their knowledge in blending spoken, written, and comprehensive English.
- Our Center for Cultural Empowerment offers various programs. See our 'Programs & Projects' page.
- We refer individuals and families to the Capital Area Literacy Coalition for one-on-one or classroom experience for reading, writing and speaking. There is no charge for assistance, they can be reached at 1028 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 49006, 517/485-4949, firstname.lastname@example.org.
